PrairieStack is a small technology company in Bismarck, North Dakota. We look after other people's computers and data, and we build a few software products of our own.
What PrairieStack is
There are two halves to this company, and they feed each other. The first is the day-to-day work: managed IT for small businesses around Bismarck — backups we have actually restored from, updates that happen on a schedule, monitoring that notices a problem before the owner does.
The second is the software. PrairieStack builds a small set of independent products: bookkeeping for small businesses, image conversion, backup and recovery, certificate lifecycle management, and networks built around people rather than feeds.
The order matters. The products exist because the service work kept running into the same problems, and the service work benefits from tools we understand down to the last line because we wrote them. Neither half is a side project.
How the products are organized
The company does not sell one product and wrap everything else around it. Each product stands on its own, and the parent company's job is to keep the craft consistent across all of them — design, hosting, security practice, and the discipline of saying plainly where a product actually is.
Every product has its own purpose, its own release schedule, and today its own account. Nothing is bundled, and nothing is gated behind another product.
One PrairieStack identity across the family is planned. It is not published yet, and no page on this site will claim it before it ships.
